Stopping Rust Since 1969

Meet Our Founder
Corroseal’s journey from humble beginnings to industry leader is thanks in large part to the vision of our founder, Dr. Gerhard D. Schumann. After immigrating to the U.S. from Germany in 1966, Dr. Schumann worked as a corrosion engineer for the Department of the Navy.
Frustrated by the limitations of existing rust treatment options, Dr. Schumann set out to invent a better solution. His pioneering creation, Corroseal® Rust Converter, was first sold out of the trunk of his car to local auto shops and marinas. As word spread of its effectiveness, demand grew rapidly.
In 1980, Dr. Schumann left his government job to focus full-time on Corroseal®. His hands-on approach and obsession with quality fueled the company’s early success. Even into his later years, he insisted on personally testing each new product formulation.
Although Dr. Schumann passed away in 2000, his entrepreneurial spirit lives on at Corroseal®. We remain driven by his vision to create innovative corrosion solutions that make people’s lives easier and protect the world’s infrastructure. Dr. Schumann proved one person with persistence and passion can make a transformative impact.
